In other societies, adoption is seen differently. In a few Pacific Island societies, youngsters who are adopted are deemed fortunate as they have two sets of mothers and fathers; little ones usually are not presented for adoption mainly because a parent is unwilling or not able to take care of them, but rather to honor the adoptive moms and dads.
